Jacksonville, AL – In accordance with the U.S. Department of Education and the Jeanne Clery Act, Jacksonville State University (JSU) has released its latest crime and activity log, detailing incidents reported on campus. This report highlights the current status of each case, including whether they are active, closed, or pending investigation.
The log reveals a range of incidents that occurred recently, providing transparency and fostering a safer campus environment. Cases categorized as “closed” or “inactive” indicate that they are not currently under investigation, while those referred for disciplinary action have been forwarded to the Office of Community Standards and Student Ethics.
On October 30, 2024, at 19:19, a report of harassment involving simple assault was filed at the Dining Hall, which has since been closed. Earlier that day, at 16:20, a case of a minor in possession of tobacco was reported at Fitzpatrick Hall, also closed. Another incident reported at 14:53, concerning possession of marijuana in the second degree at North Village, is currently pending. Additionally, at 14:10, harassing communications were reported at North Village and subsequently closed. On October 28, there were multiple incidents, including harassing communications at Sparkman Hall and Fitzpatrick Hall/Curtiss Hall Lawn, both of which were closed.
Earlier cases on October 25 included harassing communications reported at Pannell Hall, which is now closed, and harassment at North Village, also closed. A pending theft of miscellaneous items valued at $500 or less was reported at Martin Hall on October 24. The same day, a theft of lost property in the fourth degree was reported at Paul Carpenter Village, which remains pending. A case concerning possession of marijuana in the second degree and a minor in possession of tobacco at Logan Hall was reported on October 22 and has since been closed.
Other notable incidents include a minor in possession of tobacco at Dixon Hall on October 20, which was closed, and an arrest for possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence on October 16 at Greenleaf Street SW/Alexandria Road SW, which was closed as well. Reports of miscellaneous theft at Merrill Hall on October 15 are pending, while a case of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at Curtiss Hall on October 11 has been closed.
On October 9, an arrest for obstructing justice using a false identity occurred at UREC, and a case involving possession of marijuana in the second degree and a minor in possession of tobacco was closed at Crow Hall. Other incidents, including a pending case of simple assault at the Stone Center on October 9, sexual abuse reported at Kappa Alpha, and harassing communications at Kappa Sigma on October 4, remain pending. A case of minor in consumption, possession, or transportation of alcohol at Fitzpatrick Hall on October 2 has been closed, as has a report of harassing communications at JSU Campus the same day. Finally, a miscellaneous theft at Merrill Hall on October 1 is currently pending.
