Rainbow City, AL – The Jacksonville State University A Cappella Choir will perform on Friday, November 8, at the Rainbow Presbyterian Church in Rainbow City, Alabama. The concert, set to begin at 7:30 p.m., is open to all Jax State alumni, faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
The A Cappella Choir, Jacksonville State University’s flagship choral group, has been a beloved ensemble since its founding in the 1950s. Known for its rich blend of vocal talents and diverse repertoire, the choir performs standard choral pieces spanning various musical eras, including world music, folk music, spirituals, and contemporary works. Members of this auditioned choir come from diverse academic disciplines across the university, uniting to deliver stirring performances that highlight their musical and vocal abilities.
Throughout its history, the choir has established itself as a premier vocal ensemble. In recent years, it debuted at the prestigious Carnegie Hall and earned national acclaim as a finalist in The American Prize for choral performance in the college/university division. Additionally, the A Cappella Choir regularly participates in major music events, including those organized by the Alabama American Choral Directors Association and the Alabama Music Educators Association, affirming its commitment to excellence in choral music.
