Wynika Hendrix Hosts Successful Dinner to Kick Off Annual Toy Drive in Oxford

Fundraising Dinner

Oxford, AL – On Thursday, November 21, Wynika Hendrix hosted a heartfelt dinner at Hubbard’s Off Main in Oxford to launch her annual toy drive. Attendees were asked to bring two toys—one for a boy and one for a girl—in lieu of a dinner cost, and the event far exceeded expectations.

“Oh my goodness, God exceeded my expectations,” said Hendrix. “It went really, really well.”

This dinner served as the unofficial launch of Hendrix’s toy drive, which collects donations for children in need during the holiday season. While Hendrix has been organizing this initiative for years, this event marked an exciting start to this year’s efforts.

Community members can continue to donate toys or funds until December 20. Toys should be new and unwrapped, preferably placed in gift bags. The drive seeks donations for children ages 1 to 12, with no specific age group emphasized.

“We just ask for whatever is on people’s hearts to give,” Hendrix explained. “Last year, we were surprised by the number of older kids—eight and up—who came through, but every year is different. We try to be prepared for whatever need arises.”

Donations can be dropped off at Hendrix’s office, the Juanita Hendrix Insurance Agency at Country Financial, located at 1709 Hill Robinson South, Suite D, Oxford, AL. For those who prefer a monetary contribution, Hendrix accepts donations through her Cash App at $WynikaHendrix or by check at her office.

The toy drive will culminate in a festive giveaway event on Thursday, December 21, at 10 a.m. at Hendrix’s office. The event will feature holiday fun, including appearances by the Grinch and Paw Patrol, music from a DJ, and support from the Oxford Fire and Police Departments.

Hendrix, who has organized the drive for five years, emphasized the importance of creating joy for children during the holiday season. “We want this to be more than just picking up a toy—we want it to feel like the North Pole,” she said.

This initiative, sponsored by Country Financial, reflects Hendrix’s deep commitment to giving back to the community. “Growing up, I understood what it’s like to not have the best of everything. That’s why my heart is always humbled, and I want to give back,” she shared.

With nearly a month left to donate, Hendrix invites the community to join her in brightening the season for children across the area. “It’s about making the holidays a little brighter for families and creating a fun, welcoming experience for everyone,” she said.
