Anniston, AL – The Anniston Runners Club is inviting the community to participate in the 2nd Annual Christmas Tree Route Run, a free event that combines fitness, festive spirit, and heartfelt generosity. Scheduled for Saturday, December 21, 2024, the run begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Fort McClellan Medical Mall in Anniston, following a unique 4-mile route shaped like a Christmas tree.
The event welcomes participants of all ages and fitness levels, encouraging runners, walkers, joggers, and spectators to join without the need for registration. Finishers will enjoy complimentary cookies and water, while the top three male and female finishers will be awarded handcrafted wooden Christmas tree figures.
This year, the event is dedicated to supporting 7-year-old Lily Bussey, a local girl who has faced significant health challenges since birth. Weighing just 40 pounds and reliant on a G-Tube for nutrition, Lily requires specialized testing and treatment at the Motility Center of the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Her family is seeking community assistance to cover travel and medical expenses.
Donations to support Lily’s journey can be made in person at the Christmas Tree Route Run through cash or check. Additionally, contributions are accepted online via Venmo using the username @LilyEliseBussey.
The Anniston Runners Club, a non-profit organization committed to promoting community engagement through fitness, encourages everyone to attend and make a difference in Lily’s life this holiday season.
