Gadsden, AL – The Gadsden State Community College Show Band and A Cappella Choir are set to deliver a festive evening with their annual holiday performance, Christmas with the Cardinals. This free event, featuring holiday music in a variety of styles, will take place at 6 p.m. on December 10 in the newly transformed performance space in the former Meadows Library, located in Inzer Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus.
“The choral groups will provide holiday music of cheer and entertainment at this year’s Christmas with the Cardinals,” said J.T. Harrell, director of the choir. “As director, this is my favorite time of the year. People are always eager to hear Christmas music and celebrate the season of giving.”
The A Cappella Choir will perform timeless classics such as “White Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Sleigh Bells,” and the “Ukrainian Bell Carol,” among other holiday favorites.
Desmond Mitchell, director of the Show Band, shared the collaborative approach in selecting songs for the event. “We invite the entire community to enjoy Christmas with the Cardinals in our new performance space,” he said. “Get ready for a performance from the GSCC Show Band, filled with classics and contemporary songs. The collection of Pop, R&B, Soul, and Country forms of Christmas music performed by the Show Band is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit and deliver a show you won’t soon forget.”
Adding to the holiday magic, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. for photo opportunities and Christmas wishes. Students from the Division of Fine Arts have transformed the space into a cozy holiday setting, ensuring an enjoyable experience for attendees of all ages.
Mario Gallardo, chair of the Division of Fine Arts, emphasized the community aspect of the event. “Christmas with the Cardinals is free to the public. We would like our community to come and experience holiday cheer with the Gadsden State Cardinal family,” he said. “The Clauses’ plan to bring their sleigh for the children to enjoy. This event will make it the most wonderful time of the year.”
