Gadsden State Community College Enhances Campus Safety and Accessibility with New Address Initiative

Gadsden State building address initiative enhances campus safety

Gadsden, AL – Gadsden State Community College has launched a significant new initiative aimed at improving campus safety and accessibility for students, employees, and visitors. As part of this initiative, every building on the college’s five campuses will now have its own unique physical address, with corresponding signs set to be installed soon.

Jay Freeman, chief of the Gadsden State Police and Safety Department, explained the importance of this development. “Every building on each of Gadsden State’s five campuses will now have its own physical address,” he said. “This initiative will include physical address signs that will be installed on each building in the near future.”

The new physical addresses will be reflected on updated campus maps, which are now available on the Gadsden State website, ensuring that students, employees, and visitors can easily locate buildings. Freeman highlighted that the addresses and building signs would be particularly beneficial for first responders, enhancing their ability to quickly identify and access specific buildings in emergency situations. Additionally, the signage will help guide individuals navigating the campuses more effectively.

“This initiative enhances their ability to locate buildings quickly during emergencies,” Freeman added. “The signs will also provide clear directional assistance for people navigating our campuses.”

Freeman also noted that the initiative was the result of a collaborative effort between his department and Gadsden State’s Capital Projects and Operations Department. “The Capital Projects and Operations Department, under the leadership of Cory Carter, has truly been committed to this project,” Freeman said. “We look forward to the positive impact on our campuses and the community’s safety and well-being. We appreciate the support and collaboration as we move forward with this initiative.”
