Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating recent property crimes and is calling on the public for help. By encouraging community involvement, the Sheriff’s Office hopes to improve public safety and hold those accountable for these criminal activities.
Incident 1: Sometime between 11/19/24 and 11/24/24 Good Old Days Antique Store on Old Hwy 431 in Gadsden was broken into. Other buildings on the property were also burgled.
Incident 2: Sometime on 12/02/24 an enclosed cargo trailer was stolen from a residence on DearmanvilleRoad in Anniston.
Catch of the Week: Last week, investigators with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office developed information indicating that Ernest Thurston, a registered sex offender residing in Calhoun County, might be in violation of the Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Act (SORNA). Following a thorough investigation, an arrest warrant was issued, and Thurston was taken into custody by deputies.
In addition, last week, the Sherrif’s Office asked for your help in locating Johnny Paul King, and you delivered! Just a few short days after the show aired, deputies arrested King on his outstanding warrants. *Reminder, both Thurston and King are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
