Gadsden, AL – Gadsden State Community College honored its graduates from the Summer and Fall Semesters during a commencement ceremony held on December 19 at Gadsden State Cherokee. The event recognized the achievements of 535 students who completed the requirements for associate degrees, certificates, and short-term certificates, culminating in the awarding of 807 credentials.
“These students showed incredible dedication to their education, and we were honored to celebrate their success,” said Andy Green, dean of Student Services. “Earning a credential from Gadsden State is a significant achievement.”
A total of 111 students were distinguished for their academic achievements, wearing cords that signified their level of honors:
- Summa Cum Laude (GPA 3.9-4.0): 28 students were awarded gold cords for their exceptional academic success.
- Magna Cum Laude (GPA 3.7-3.89): 41 students earned red cords.
- Cum Laude (GPA 3.5-3.69): 26 students received red and gold cords.
- Graduates with Distinction: 16 students who earned technical certificates with at least a 3.5 GPA were recognized with red and black cords.
“Our honor graduates have demonstrated incredible perseverance and commitment to their academic excellence,” said Green. “Their hard work and focus have set them apart. It’s a privilege for Gadsden State to recognize their exceptional achievements while balancing academic challenges with the demands of life.”
As the Fall Semester concludes, Gadsden State is preparing for the upcoming Spring Semester. Registration is open for the full Spring Semester and two mini terms. Classes for the Spring Semester and Mini Term 1 will begin on January 13, while Mini Term 2 starts on March 2.
