Gadsden, AL – Gadsden State Community College is thrilled to announce a free training session tailored for Behavioral Intervention Threat Assessment Teams, law enforcement professionals, and school personnel. The four-hour course will take place on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Science Building Auditorium on the Gadsden State campus.
The training is designed to enhance safety and preparedness across schools and communities by providing critical insights into threat assessment and intervention strategies. Topics include:
- Types of Violence
- Importance of Reporting
- Pathway to Violence
- Enhancers/Mitigators
- Triggers/Stressors
- Information Gathering & Privacy Laws
- Management Options
- Building a Team of Teams
Jay Freeman, Chief of the Gadsden State Police and Safety Department, emphasized the importance of collaboration in preventing potential threats. “The safety of our students, staff, faculty, and communities is our top priority,” Freeman said. “By bringing together law enforcement, school personnel, and Behavioral Intervention Teams, we equip boots on the ground with the knowledge and tools needed to safeguard our campuses and communities proactively.”
The event is made possible through the support of Etowah County District Judge Joe Nabors and will feature expert presenters:
