Secretary of State Wes Allen Brings Voter Integrity Message to Washington DC

Montgomery, AL – Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen traveled to Washington, D.C., last week to engage in a series of discussions on election policy, voter file maintenance, and federal legislation. His visit included participation in a multistate roundtable discussion, meetings with Alabama Senators Katie Britt and Tommy Tuberville, and attendance at the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Conference.

Congressman Brian Steil (R-WI), Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on House Administration, hosted a roundtable discussion with Chief Elections Officials from across the country. Allen was among 13 of the nation’s 50 Secretaries of State selected to present on voter file maintenance and election integrity. During the discussion, Allen highlighted Alabama’s internally designed voter file maintenance system, the Alabama Voter Integrity Database (AVID).

CEI Services

“Regular and efficient voter file maintenance is the foundation of election integrity,” Allen stated. “It was an honor to share Alabama’s internally designed and implemented voter file maintenance system with other Secretaries of State. My team and I are proud of the Alabama Voter Integrity Database (AVID) and the results it has produced for Alabama voters.”

During his visit, Allen also met with Senators Britt and Tuberville to discuss Alabama’s election integrity efforts and other federal policy issues. Topics included the potential repeal of the beneficial ownership reporting requirement under the Corporate Transparency Act and proposed reforms to the National Voter Registration Act.

Allen also participated in the NASS Conference, where he attended sessions on election administration, business services, and cybersecurity. The conference serves as a platform for Secretaries of State to exchange ideas and strategies for addressing challenges in their respective states.

Application

“It is always great to gather with other Secretaries of State to discuss the issues challenging each of our individual states while learning from each other on what produces positive results for the people of our respective states,” Allen said. “Sharing ideas and working together towards a better America is a worthwhile cause, and one that I am proud to have participated in.”

Allen, serving as Alabama’s 54th Secretary of State, is the state’s Chief Elections Official, responsible for overseeing election procedures and maintaining voter records, among other duties.
