Oxford, AL – Class 1A-3A top-ranked Donoho girls down 5A No. 8 Boaz in soccer. Roundup also includes tons of baseball and softball reports from several schools.
Anna Kate Wallace scored three goals, and the Class 1A-3A top-ranked Donoho girls’ soccer team downed Class 5A No. 8 Boaz 7-1 during Friday’s action in the ASOF Tournament at Choccolocco Park.
Samantha Wakefield added two goals, and the Falcons got one goal apiece from Brooke Vandiber and Lauren Wiggly.
Donoho improved to 6-0 on the season while upping its goal count to 40 on the season. Boaz’s goal was only the second allowed by Donoho this season.
Baseball
JACKSONVILLE 14, OHATCHEE 8: Jackson Bonner went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs, and Jacksonville improved to 7-7.
John Ducar was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs, and Drake Loggins went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
Easton Lackey went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Maguire Mallett had a double and an RBI, and Matthew Salmon had a double and a run.
Drake Kay went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs, and Jake Roberson hit a solo home run while going 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI for Ohatchee (5-5).
Xavier Luna was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Colby Hester went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Ethan Jones added a double.
PLEASANT VALLEY 10-18, GASTON 0-5: Pleasant Valley improved to 8-4 while finishing off a sweep of an area series, beating Gaston 10-0 and 18-5.
In the first game, Jake Barnwell pitched six innings, allowing four hits and three walks with five strikeouts.
Logan Williams went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, five RBIs and two runs, and Dallas Roper went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run. Nic Acker added a double, a run and an RBI.
In the second game, Williams got his third home run of the series, one in each game, while going 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs.
Roper was 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs, and Wesley Wheeler was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Peyton Mann went 2-for-5 with a double, three runs and one RBI, and Jackson Acker had a single and two RBIs.
Dixon Duncan went 2-for-5 with a double and a run, and Greer Laros singled and scored three runs.
SOUTHSIDE 10, ALEXANDRIA 2: Southside’s Alex Brewer went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
The Panthers also got two RBIs from Will Stapleton and two-hit performances from Baylor Partee and Abe Martin. Partee and Martin each had a double, as did Carson McGraw, who scored two runs.
Three Southside pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts while holding Alexandria to two hits. Corbin Driskell got the win, allowing two hits and two earned runs over five innings. He struck out seven batters and walked six.
Caden Winningham and Shelby Houston each pitched a hitless inning of relief.
Bray Goode and Camryn Johnson each had an RBI for Alexandria. Jeremiah Heathcock and Cooper Smith each hit a single.
WHITE PLAINS 4-1, HARALSON COUNTY (Ga.) 1-12: White Plains split a doubleheader with Haralson County, winning the opener 4-1 and falling 12-1 in the second game.
Luke Richardson pitched 6 2/3 innings in the opener, striking out four batters while walking six and allowing two hits. Beau Madrigal came on to get the last out.
Dalton Luker went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Jacob Stamm had a double, an RBI and a run. Aiden Kilgore went 2-for-4.
Richardson had the Wildcats’ highlight in Game 2, with a single and an RBI. Luker had a single and a run.
BENJAMIN RUSSELL 5, CENTRAL-CLAY 3: Benjamin Russell’s Coley Young went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Ryder Mobley had a double, two RBIs and a run.
Jaxson Edwards got the win, allowing one hit, no walks and no runs in two innings. He struck out one batter.
Central-Clay’s Andrew Seals went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and J.T. Wilkerson added a single, an RBI and a run. Braden Sprayberry added a pinch-hit triple.
CLEBURNE COUNTY 5, RANBURNE 4: Gabriel Wickersham went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Hunter Gore went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs as Cleburne County upped to 7-3.
Asher Brown and Cade Shubert each went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Brown pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and no earned runs with 10 strikeouts and one walk. Wickersham came on to retire the final two batters.
Ranburne’s Carter Loren had a double and two RBIs, and Carson Jones doubled and scored a run.
Colton Johnson pitched six innings, allowing four hits and no earned runs with seven strikeouts.
CHEROKEE COUNTY WINS TWO: The Warriors beat Sand rock 18-2 and Spring Garden 3-2 on Friday to improve to 8-7.
Carson Tittle led the offense against Sand Rock, going 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs.
Nate Black went 2-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Parker Wilson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.
Aiden Bobbitt added a single, two RBIs and a run.
Ben Elsberry got the win, pitching three innings, allowing no hits or runs with one walk with six strikeouts. Wilson struck out five batters in two innings.
Tittle went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI against Spring Garden, and Black had a triple and an RBI.
Tittle also pitched a complete game, allowing two hits, two walks and one earned run with 11 strikeouts.
Spring Garden’s Joel Hunter singled with two RBIs.
Softball
PLEASANT VALLEY WINS TWO: The Raiders improved to 10-1, beating Randolph County 6-0 and Sylacauga 11-6 in an international tiebreaker.
Lily Henry pitched a no-hitter against Randolph County, striking out seven batters in four innings. Lilly Robinson led the way at the plate, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run.
Haylie Lee had a double and an RBI, and Aubrey Cromer doubled and scored two runs. Ava Washington added an RBI.
Against Sylacauga, Cailey Almaroad went 3-for-5 with a double and six RBIs, Lee was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Elise Wheeler went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI. Washington was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Robinson had a double and scored two runs.
WHITE PLAINS 18, GADSDEN CITY 3: White Plains’ Callie Richardson went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs, and Carleigh-Anne Green went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and a run.
Sara Kate Adams doubled, scored two runs and had an RBI, and Leighton Arnold singled with two runs and an RBI. Carli Fritts had a single and three runs, and Anna O’Dell singled and scored two runs.
Jaylie Holt doubled and scored a run.
ALEXANDRIA 7, COLLINSVILLE 0: Alexandria’s Khloe England pitched a four-hitter with six strikeouts, and Kaden Pritchett went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two runs and two RBIs.
Brenlee Sparks and Cali Hess each had a double and an RBI, and the Valley Cubs got a single and RBI from Pressley Slaton. Allyssa Hunt added a single and scored two runs.
MUNFORD 6, OXFORD 0: Munford’s Brooklyn Pressley pitched a two-hitter with one strikeout and three walks, and the Lions improved to 9-1.
Addyson Britt went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, an RBI and a run, and Kastin Lathem went 1-for-4 with three RBIs and a run.
Oxford’s Jayla Jackson hit a triple, and Madison Murphy had a single.
OHATCHEE 4, ASHVILLE 2: Ohatchee got a single and RBI apiece from Tabi Davidson and Reese Steward and an RBI apiece from Lexi Thomas and Jordyn Faulkner.
Savannah Reaves doubled and scored a run.
Faulkner pitched all four innings, allowing five hits, two walks and two earned runs with four strikeouts.
HANDLEY SPLITS: The Tigers beat Fayetteville 23-5 and lost to Shelby County 3-1.
Kynleigh Murr had a double, five RBIs and a run against Fayetteville, and Rayna Smith went 2-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and three runs,
Breydan Watkins went 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBis and a run, and Olivia Cobb was 2-for-3 with a double, four runs and two RBIs.
Brynnley Lane went 2-for-3 with a triple, three runs and an RBI, Keira Addison was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Makenzie McCain was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, and Mattie Cochran went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.
Clair Pike had a double, two RBIs and a run.
Smith got the win, allowing three hits and no earned runs in four innings.
CLEBURNE COUNTY 11, SAKS 3: Macey East went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs to lead Cleburne County at the plate, and Lola Shelton was 1-for-1 with two runs and an RBI.
East also pitched all three innings, allowing two hits, four walks and three earned runs with three strikeouts.
Salks’ Raina Zackary homered and drove in two runs, and A.J. Twymon added an RBIs.
WOODLAND 8, SAKS 2: Woodland’s Railey Williams had a double, two RBIs and a run, and Alyssa Taylor was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Kaitlyn Davidson added a double, a run and an RBI, and Lucy Phillips had a single, run and an RBI.
Allie Puckett went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI. She also pitched all four innings, allowing seven hits, no walks and two earned runs with six strikeouts.
Saks’ Adrianna Stevens was 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI, and Raina Zackary was 2-for-2 with a double. Caylee MIller hit a double and scored a run.
CENTRAL-CLAY WINS TWO: The Vols beat Weaver 7-5 and Hokes Bluff 5-0.
Camdyn Pressley went 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs against Weaver, and Suraya Colburn was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Soccara Lopez added a single, a run and an RBI, and Ensleigh Giddens had a single and an RBI.
Chloe Morris pitched all four innings, allowing two hits, one walk and no earned runs with five strikeouts.
Weaver’s Ashlyn Coleman homered with two RBIs and two runs, and Caitlyn Edmonson had a single and RBI.
McCain pitched a two-hitter against Hokes Bluff, allowing two walks with four strikeouts. She also had a single and two RBis.
Pressley tripled and had two RBIs.
HOKE BLUFF 7, WEAVER 0: Hokes Bluff’s Makenna Bennich pitched a no-hitter, allowing one walk with seven strikeouts in four innings. That helped the Eagles overcome a combined three-hitter by Weaver’s Reyleigh Partner and Promise McLean.
Sophia Jackson had Hokes Bluff’s lone RBI and scored a run. Lacey Grace Hall and Rylee Hill each had a single and two runs, and Addison Simmons singled and scored a run.
