U.S. Senator Katie Britt Receives American Farm Bureau Federation’s ‘Outstanding New Member of Congress’ Award

Washington D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) has been recognized by the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) with the “Outstanding New Member of Congress” award. This honor is given to a member of Congress who is in, or has recently completed, their first term and has demonstrated strong support for agricultural interests.

“I am honored to receive the ‘Outstanding New Member of Congress’ award from the American Farm Bureau Federation,” said Senator Britt. “The importance of our family farmers and agricultural community cannot be overstated — American food security is critical to our economic security and national security. I am proud to be an unwavering champion for the hardworking men and women who tirelessly work to feed, fuel, and clothe America. I will continue fighting to ensure our farmers have the necessary resources and support to tend to their land for generations to come.”

AFBF President Zippy Duvall commended Britt for her contributions to agriculture, stating, “Her leadership is needed to help address the challenges facing America’s farmers and ranchers. With increasing uncertainty in farming caused by high supply prices, shrinking paychecks, and the lack of a new, modernized farm bill, we need lawmakers like Senator Britt to continue working to create opportunities for America’s farmers and ranchers.”

Senator Britt’s nomination for the award came from the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA), which highlighted her dedication to agricultural issues in both Alabama and the broader national landscape. ALFA President Jimmy Parnell praised Britt’s advocacy, saying, “Senator Britt is a rising star with a bright future in the U.S. Senate. She grew up in rural Alabama and has already proven herself to be a strong proponent of agriculture. Senator Britt understands that farmers must thrive for rural communities to survive. I believe there is no new member of Congress more deserving of this recognition than our friend Senator Katie Britt.”

The AFBF’s Outstanding New Member of Congress Award is granted to legislators who have served no more than one full term at the time of nomination and have demonstrated a commitment to agricultural policies supported by Farm Bureau, including private enterprise, fiscal conservatism, and reducing federal regulations on businesses and individuals.

Application

Senator Britt has actively engaged in legislative efforts related to agriculture. She recently co-sponsored the Death Tax Repeal Act, aiming to eliminate the federal estate tax that affects family-run farms and small businesses. She has also supported resolutions recognizing the role of the National FFA Organization in fostering leadership and career opportunities in agriculture.

Additionally, Senator Britt has backed legislation addressing foreign ownership of American agricultural land and cybersecurity threats to the agricultural sector. She introduced the Not One More Inch or Acre Act and co-sponsored the Farm and Food Cybersecurity Act, along with the Foreign Adversary Risk Management (FARM) Act in both the 118th and 119th Congresses.

Britt’s recognition by the AFBF reflects her ongoing efforts to advocate for policies supporting American farmers, ranchers, and rural communities.
