Anniston, AL – The Anniston Police Department (APD) has named Corporal Christopher Bush as its 2024 Officer of the Year, recognizing his dedication, expertise, and significant contributions to law enforcement in the city.
Corporal Bush has been a valued member of APD for four years, during which time he has developed into a skilled and versatile officer. His unwavering commitment to the profession is evident in the 100% effort he puts into his responsibilities. One of his greatest passions is combating drug-related crimes, which led him to join the department’s Street Crimes Unit.
Understanding the growing need for a K9 handler, Bush proactively sought to take on the role. His research led him to Hurricane Creek K9, a Georgia-based organization that rescues and trains dogs for law enforcement use. His early success as a K9 handler, combined with the affordability of the program, played a pivotal role in the establishment of Anniston’s largest K9 program in history. Today, the department proudly operates six K9 teams, a direct result of Bush’s dedication, research, and hard work. Additionally, he continues to support his fellow officers by providing training assistance.
