Anniston, AL – On March 12, 2025, the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit conducted an operation that led to significant drug seizures in the Anniston area. Investigators with the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit, in coordination with the Anniston Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Birmingham Office, executed search warrants at two separate locations as part of an extensive investigation into fentanyl distribution.
During the operation, authorities seized:
- 7.3 ounces of fentanyl
- 1.7 ounces of methamphetamine
- 1.2 ounces of cocaine
- 2 ounces of crack cocaine
- 24 pounds of synthetic marijuana (Spice)
- One firearm
- $8,100 in U.S. currency
Officials emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that no additional information will be released at this time. The search warrants were the result of a long-term investigation into illicit drug sales in Anniston and surrounding areas.
Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, continues to be a major contributor to overdose deaths nationwide. Law enforcement agencies remain committed to combating drug trafficking and ensuring public safety.
Commander Allen George of the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit confirmed the seizure in an official statement.
Anniston Chief Nick Bowles confirmed to the Calhon Journal, that the Anniston SWAT team was used in this operation and two people were taken into custody. Bowles went on to state, “I’m very proud of our tactical team and we are always here to assist all Law Enforcment Teams when they need us.”
