Gadsden, AL – Gadsden State Community College’s Radiography Program has once again achieved the highest level of accreditation, earning an eight-year reaccreditation from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
“This recognition reflects Gadsden State’s unwavering commitment to excellence in radiography education and underscores its dedication to preparing students for successful careers in healthcare,” said Dr. Joey Battles, dean of Health Sciences.
The Radiography Program, accredited since 1970, has consistently met JRCERT’s rigorous standards. For the past 25 years, the program has maintained the full eight-year accreditation, with the most recent reaccreditation awarded in February. The process involved a comprehensive self-study, an on-site evaluation, and an in-depth review of curriculum, faculty qualifications, student learning outcomes, and institutional support.
“Accreditation ensures that the program continues to uphold the highest standards in education,” said Ashley Crusey, program director. “It means our students can sit for their national certification and registration exams through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. It ensures that we are maintaining the highest standards of quality and integrity in both academics and administration. This is a tremendous achievement for our program and our College, and it means our students will continue to receive an education that enables them to provide outstanding patient care.”
The program’s success is evident not only in its continued accreditation but also in its student outcomes. Gadsden State’s Radiography Program boasts a 100 percent job placement rate and a 91 percent program completion rate. Currently, 24 students are set to graduate in May, with 23 additional students in their first year of the program.
“Our program’s continued accreditation and outstanding student outcomes highlight our commitment to academic excellence and workforce readiness,” Crusey added.
Clinical Coordinator Autumn Hardeman emphasized the program’s hands-on approach.
“We take pride in equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience they need to excel in the field of radiography,” she said.
Dr. Battles echoed this sentiment, stating that the accreditation reaffirms the program’s ability to provide students with the highest-quality education that aligns with industry standards.
“We are ensuring that they are prepared for certification and long-term career success. Gadsden State is committed to student success and advancing excellence in healthcare,” he said.
