CALHOUN COUNTY, AL — An outbreak of severe storms is expected this afternoon into early Sunday morning across all of Central Alabama, including Calhoun County. The threat includes strong, potentially long-track tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds, and other hazardous weather conditions. The timing for these storms is from 11 AM Saturday to 3 AM Sunday.
Severe Weather Threats:
- Strong, potentially long-track tornadoes
- Large hail up to 2 inches in diameter
- Damaging winds up to 70 mph
- Timing: 11 AM Saturday – 3 AM Sunday
Additional Hazards:
- Gusty winds ahead of storms – A Wind Advisory is in effect
- Heavy rain & localized flooding, especially across the northwest
Shelter Information:
All public tornado shelters across Calhoun County will open when a Tornado Watch is issued. If a Tornado Warning is issued, these shelters will remain open. As of now, the following shelter in Oxford is open:
