Montgomery, AL – For the first time in its history, the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Alabama has been awarded the Strategic Plan Chapter Performance Award for 2024-2029. The recognition was presented at ABC National’s Annual Convention in Las Vegas, marking a milestone achievement for the organization.
The Strategic Plan Chapter Performance Award is an annual recognition given to the top-performing chapter in achieving objectives aligned with the association-wide five-year strategic plan. This includes key areas such as membership growth, political advocacy, total human health, and workforce development. ABC Alabama surpassed 66 other chapters in meeting these long-range goals.
ABC Alabama President Jay Reed expressed his gratitude, stating, “We are immensely honored to receive this year’s award, and it is incredibly fulfilling for our Executive Board and members to be recognized for their hard work, commitment, and forward-thinking. We are committed to impacting our communities, industry, and policymakers by developing a plan and setting measurable goals.”
ABC National President and CEO Mike Bellaman also commended the Alabama chapter’s performance, saying, “Congratulations to the 2024 winner of the ABC Strategic Plan Chapter Performance Award, ABC Alabama. Established in 2019, the award recognizes the all-around top-performing chapter in achieving the annual objectives in the association-wide five-year strategic plan. Organizational alignment has been the catalyst for this transformational performance. Thank you, ABC Alabama, for your leadership and commitment to achieving performance objectives set for ABC nationwide; the industry, ABC members, and your community are better for it.”
Former ABC Alabama Board Chairman Mark Mattox, vice president of Robins & Morton, played a crucial role in laying the groundwork for the chapter’s success. Reflecting on the achievement, he stated, “In January 2024, we met as a Board to establish our agenda and action plan for the year. We established lofty goals and put a tremendous amount of work and effort throughout the year into achieving or exceeding those goals. The hard work and long hours of so many paid huge dividends—we surpassed our membership, political action, safety, and workforce development goals.”
Current ABC Alabama Board Chairman Tim Harrison highlighted the significance of the award, stating, “This is an outstanding honor, and it signifies our chapter’s commitment to developing and executing detailed long-term plans. In our industry, we are measured by delivering tangible results, and this award is given based on measurable goals with high standards and challenging demands.”
The five-year strategic planning process continues to serve as a guiding framework for ABC, helping chapters align with national objectives while fostering growth and development in the construction industry. ABC Alabama’s recognition as the top-performing chapter underscores its leadership and dedication to advancing industry standards and workforce development initiatives.
