Anniston, AL – On Friday, May 30, 2025, at approximately 12:10 am, the Anniston Police Department was dispatched to the area of Cherry Street and Old Gadsden Hwy with reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers observed a large crowd of people attempting to leave to the area quickly. Officers learned that there had been over 200 people in attendance for a graduation party. It was also learned that two separate groups began verbally arguing until it escalated to an unknown person firing a weapon, causing others to also begin shooting. Durning the gunfire an unidentified 20-year-old female was struck by a bullet in her leg. The victim was brough to the hospital by a private vehicle and her injuries were not considered life threatening.
Investigators were able to locate over 100 spent bullet casings in the immediate area and began talking to people that remained on the scene. Anniston Police Chief Nick Bowles stated, “At this time our investigators are still conducting interviews but have not identified any suspects yet.” He also requested that anyone with information to please contact the Investigations Division.
