Gadsden, AL – A total of 91 Gadsden State Community College student-athletes have been named to the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Spring 2025 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. This recognition is awarded to student-athletes who earned a grade point average of 3.0 or higher while completing at least 12 credit hours.
All eight of Gadsden State’s athletic teams were represented on the honor roll: Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Softball, Men’s Tennis, and Volleyball. Each of these teams was also named to the ACCC Commissioner’s Academic Team Honor Roll for their collective academic performance.
“These student-athletes should be proud of themselves as they have balanced academics with practice and games,” said Dean Myrick, ACCC commissioner. “I am very proud of them, along with the faculty and staff at our amazing colleges for the work they do in preparing our student-athletes for life outside of athletics.”
Gadsden State’s honorees represent a wide range of cities across Alabama and beyond, including students from Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and New York. Notable academic standouts came from each team, with names like Madison Allen (Softball), Julien Barnett (Men’s Basketball), and Allie Bryant (Volleyball) among those recognized.
Blake Lewis, Gadsden State’s athletic director, emphasized the significance of the achievement. “Excelling as a student-athlete is a significant accomplishment. The dedication, time and endurance required to succeed in both athletics and academics is immense. These students deserve high praise for their achievements.”
The ACCC honor rolls celebrate student-athletes across the state who exemplify academic commitment alongside athletic participation. Gadsden State’s full list of honorees includes dozens of students across all participating teams, reflecting a strong institutional focus on academic achievement in collegiate sports.
