MONTGOMERY — Governor Kay Ivey, joined by students and mascots from Alabama’s 14 public universities and institutions, hosted a ceremony Thursday at the Alabama State Capitol to proclaim Friday, August 29, 2025, as College Colors Day in the state.
The event, held on the Capitol’s front steps, began at 11:00 a.m. and featured remarks from Governor Ivey. She emphasized the importance of Alabama’s public universities in educating students, serving communities, and shaping the future of the state.
College Colors Day encourages citizens to show support for higher education by wearing apparel representing their favorite university. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and fans across Alabama are invited to participate.
The initiative highlights the opportunities each of Alabama’s public universities provides in preparing graduates, advancing research, and contributing to the overall well-being of the state.
