Oxford to Host 9/11 Memorial Service at Liberty Park

OXFORD 911 MEMORIAL SERVICE

OXFORD — The City of Oxford will host a 9/11 Memorial Service on Thursday, September 11, beginning at 10 a.m. The ceremony will take place at Liberty Park, located on the grounds of the Oxford Civic Center at 401 McCullers Lane. The event is open to the public.

The Oxford Fire Department has organized the service each year, inviting first responders from across the area to participate. The annual observance serves as a tribute to the lives lost during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, as well as to honor the sacrifices of first responders who continue to serve their communities.

“That day will forever hold deep meaning for our nation, especially for all who serve as first responders,” said Oxford Fire Chief Gary Sparks. “We invite everyone to join us as we pause to reflect, to remember, and to honor those of our ranks who made the ultimate sacrifice in public service and stand united in support of all who continue the daily work of supporting and protecting the citizens of our communities.”

The memorial will include participation from local first responders and provide an opportunity for the community to gather in remembrance of one of the most significant days in American history.
