Montgomery, AL – Thousands of items — including a semi-truck, forklifts, four-wheelers, office equipment, tools, and cookware — will be available for bidding this weekend in the latest online state surplus property auction hosted by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).
The Surplus Property Division will hold the auction beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, and it will run until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. Those interested in participating must first become qualified bidders through ADECA’s website at adeca.alabama.gov/publicauctions. Once the auction opens, all items can be viewed and bid on through GovDeals.com/alabamasurplus.
The auction includes property no longer needed by state and federal agencies, as well as items voluntarily abandoned at several airports across the Southeast. A public viewing and inspection period will be held at the Surplus Property Division’s Distribution Center, located at 4590 Mobile Highway in Montgomery, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, through Friday, Nov. 7. Photos of select items are available on ADECA’s Flickr page.
ADECA holds several online public auctions each year. While the general public can bid during these events, surplus items are also made available year-round to municipal and county governments, state agencies, and qualified nonprofit organizations. All items are sold as is, and all sales are final once property is picked up and removed.
Beyond managing surplus property, ADECA oversees numerous programs supporting law enforcement, victim services, economic development, energy conservation, water resources, broadband expansion, and recreation development.
