Gadsden, AL – Gadsden State Community College has partnered with local high schools, including several in Calhoun County, to strengthen agricultural education and introduce students to careers in the poultry and agriculture industries.
As part of the initiative, Gadsden State presented a $500 check to each Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter to help fund student participation in the National FFA Convention held October 29 – November 1 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Through a collaboration with Auburn University, Gadsden State offers a poultry science program that provides scholarships and a seamless transfer pathway to a four-year degree. The program prepares students for success in one of Alabama’s fastest-growing industries while addressing statewide workforce demands.
“It is an honor for Gadsden State to invest in our local students and agricultural education,” said Randi Wright, campus director at Gadsden State Cherokee. “Through our support of their FFA Convention experience and the promotion of our poultry science program, we demonstrate our commitment to advancing both student success and the future of this essential industry.”
Participating schools included Alexandria, Ohatchee, Pleasant Valley, Saks, Walter Wellborn, Weaver, and White Plains High Schools, along with other regional schools across Alabama.
