Area Athletes Earn Silver Medals on Final Day of AHSAA Indoor State Meet

Alexandria’s Stewart, Jackonville’s Mathis and Central-Clay’s Heflin bring home silver medals in final day of state meet.

 

BIRMINGHAM — Area athletes came away with three silver medals and one bronze Saturday, in the final day of the AHSAA state indoor track championships.

Saturday’s action included the Class 4A-5A division. The 1A-3A and 6A divisions completed competition Friday.

Central-Clay’s and Jacksonville’s boys had the top team finishes among area teams, tied for 11th place with 17 points.

Medal finishers from area teams:

ALEXANDRIA: Anna Beth Stewart, tied for second in high jump (5-0).

CENTRAL-CLAY: Zykeria Heflin, second in long jump (16-8); Tristin Wilson, third in triple jump (42-11).

JACKSONVILLE: Rua Mathis, second in 3,200 run (9:34.71).
