City of Anniston Releases FY25 Economic and Development Snapshot

Anniston, AL – The City of Anniston has released its Fiscal Year 2025 “By the Numbers” report, highlighting economic activity, construction trends, and revenue growth across the city.

According to the data compiled by the City of Anniston’s Finance Department, Building & Safety Department, and Main Street Department, FY25 saw six new or expanding industrial projects, generating approximately $47.4 million in capital investment and 131 new jobs. These projects included expansions by Altex Packaging Inc., M&H Valve, Interstate Sheet Metal, AMZ Alabama Inc., and Changer & Dresser.

Construction activity reached record levels during the fiscal year. Anniston issued 1,140 construction permits, reflecting a 10 percent increase over FY24 and marking the highest annual total on record. Residential construction also experienced notable growth, with a 27.66 percent increase from FY24 to FY25. The city reported 808 residential permits issued and a total construction value of $12.7 million, representing an all-time high in both categories.

Business license activity remained strong, with 441 licenses issued in FY25, following a peak of 618 licenses in FY24. The multi-year trend reflects sustained business activity compared to earlier years, including 248 licenses in 2021 and 437 in 2022.

The report also notes continued investment in public infrastructure. Completion of the Ladiga Extension marked a milestone for the trail system, which now averages more than 600 users per week, according to city data.

General Fund revenue showed steady growth over the past decade, reaching approximately $56.3 million in FY25, up from $37.9 million in 2016. City officials noted that revenue figures are subject to adjustment as final numbers are reconciled.
