Anniston, AL – The RMC Foundation is encouraging early detection and prevention of colorectal cancer by offering free at-home screening kits throughout the month of March to eligible individuals in the community.
According to the foundation, colorectal cancer is considered one of the most preventable forms of cancer and, when detected early, one of the most treatable. Regular screenings play a key role in identifying potential concerns before symptoms appear, allowing for earlier intervention and improved outcomes.
During March, the RMC Foundation is providing free “Occult Blood” testing kits to individuals aged 50 and older who have not had a colonoscopy within the past year, as well as to those with a family history of colorectal cancer. The screening kits allow participants to collect samples privately at home and submit them for testing using a pre-supplied mailer.
Foundation representatives note that at-home testing offers a convenient and accessible option for those who may face barriers to in-person screenings or who are looking for an initial step in monitoring their colorectal health.
Community members who meet eligibility requirements may request a free screening kit by completing the online form provided by the RMC Foundation Sign-up link.
Health officials emphasize that while colorectal cancer screenings can feel uncomfortable to discuss, early detection remains one of the most effective tools in reducing cancer-related deaths and improving long-term health outcomes.
