ANNISTON, AL — Cat enthusiasts and families will have the opportunity to see a wide variety of feline breeds when the Anniston Cat Show & Adoption Event takes place March 21–22 at the Anniston City Meeting Center.
Hosted by Alabama Paws and Claws, the two-day event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the meeting center located at 1615 Noble Street. Organizers say the show will feature more than 100 pedigreed and household pet cats competing in multiple judging rings throughout the day.
According to event organizers, the show will include up to 72 different cat breeds represented, including Maine Coon Cats, Bengals, Siberians, Persians, Siamese, Devon Rex, Ragdolls, Abyssinians, and Japanese Bobtails, among others.
Judging will occur simultaneously in seven separate rings, with cats and kittens competing for top honors within each ring. Each judge conducts an individual evaluation, creating a continuous judging schedule that allows visitors to observe the process throughout the day.
Attendees will have the chance to watch cats on judging tables or walk around the show floor to view the animals between judging sessions. Some cats may be available for petting, though organizers ask visitors to request permission from exhibitors and sanitize between interactions.
The family-friendly event will also include activities for children, including free cat coloring books. Vendors offering cat-related supplies and toys are expected to be present, and food concessions will be available for guests.
Admission tickets will be sold at the door and are cash only. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors ages 60 and older and children ages 5–12, while children four and under are admitted free. A family four-pack ticket will be available for $20.
Organizers note that only cats pre-registered for the show may enter the facility as participants. Personal pets brought by spectators will not be allowed due to health and safety requirements for competing cats.
Judging runs throughout the day, and visitors are encouraged to arrive at least two hours before the show closes to allow time to see all exhibits and activities.
