Oxford, AL – Residents and visitors will have the opportunity to explore the rich history of downtown Oxford through a pair of upcoming walking tours hosted by Historic Main Street Oxford.
The free tours are scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, and Saturday, April 18, 2026. Each tour will begin at 9 a.m. at Simmons Park and continue until 11 a.m.
Exploring Oxford’s History
Led by Historic Main Street Oxford Director Hunter Gentry, the guided tours will take participants through the heart of downtown, highlighting the area’s historical significance, architectural features, and lesser-known stories that have contributed to the city’s development.
Participants can expect to learn about notable buildings, local landmarks, and unique aspects of Oxford’s past that may not be widely known. The tours aim to provide both educational insight and an engaging experience for attendees.
Open to the Community
The walking tours are open to the public at no cost, offering an accessible way for both longtime residents and first-time visitors to gain a deeper appreciation for the downtown district.
