Anniston, AL – The City of Anniston will host a special public art gallery event on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, highlighting a unique collection that reflects the city’s history and cultural identity.
The event will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Room B of the Anniston City Meeting Center, located at 1615 Noble Street. The gallery is free and open to the public.
The collection, which features more than 30 one-of-a-kind pieces, includes artwork that previously adorned earlier Anniston City Hall locations. The exhibit represents decades of visual history and offers residents an opportunity to reconnect with the city’s past through art.
The gallery was made possible through the efforts of Ms. Judy Draper, who originally conceived the idea and has overseen the public display of the collection for nearly 25 years. Her work has helped preserve and showcase pieces that hold historical significance to the community.
During the event, attendees will hear remarks from Draper, who will share her perspective on the gallery’s development and importance.
Additional remarks will be provided by Mr. Ed Isom, who will offer insight into how the collection was formed and its connection to Anniston’s history. Comments from the City Manager and Mayor are also scheduled as part of the program.
Organizers encourage residents and visitors to attend the event to explore the collection and learn more about the stories behind the artwork.
Following the gallery event, attendees are invited to remain at the Anniston City Meeting Center for the City Council meeting, which will begin at 5:00 p.m. The timing provides an opportunity for community members to engage with both the city’s cultural offerings and local government proceedings in a single visit.
City officials encourage citizens to take part in this event as a way to celebrate Anniston’s heritage and support ongoing community engagement efforts.
