OXFORD, AL — Choccolocco Park is preparing for another busy championship season as teams from across the country return for “Championship May 2026,” a month-long lineup of elite softball and baseball tournaments.
Each year, the park serves as a destination for hundreds of athletes competing at the collegiate, junior college, and high school levels. The upcoming schedule features multiple conferences and associations, bringing a steady flow of competition to the Oxford venue throughout late April and May.
The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) will open the month with its softball championship scheduled for April 29 through May 2.
Immediately following, the Gulf South Conference (GSC) will host its baseball championship May 1–5, with the conference’s softball championship taking place May 6–9.
The Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Baseball District Championship is set for May 7–10, continuing the stretch of collegiate-level competition.
High school athletes will take the field May 18–22 for the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA)Baseball and Softball Championships, bringing teams from across Alabama to compete for state titles.
The month will conclude with national-level play as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA)Division I Softball World Series is scheduled for May 25–30.
Oxford Mayor Alton Craft said the continued return of these events highlights the long-term vision behind the park’s development.
“These tournaments validate the foresight of former Mayor Leon Smith and the city council in constructing the park and our continued support of this venue, which benefits our entire region in so many ways,” Craft said. “It also speaks volumes about the professionalism of our park staff and the welcoming nature of the citizens of Oxford that once these athletic associations have played here, they make the decision to return year after year.”
Located at 954 Leon Smith Parkway, Choccolocco Park remains a central hub for sports tourism in the region, offering not only championship-level competition but also year-round recreational opportunities for visitors.
