Anniston, AL – In recognition of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week 2026, a community blood drive will be held on Friday, April 24, at the Calhoun County Courthouse. The event is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is organized to honor crime victims while providing a meaningful way for the public to give back.
The blood drive is being hosted by District Attorney Lynn Hammond in partnership with the Calhoun County Chamber. Organizers say the event is intended to raise awareness about victims’ rights while also addressing an ongoing need for blood donations in the region.
According to District Attorney Hammond, contributions made during the drive can have a direct and lasting impact. She emphasized that these donations can do so much for victims in need and encouraged community members to come out and support the effort.
The event aligns with the national theme of “Strength, Resilience, and Justice,” highlighting both the challenges faced by crime victims and the importance of community support. Donors will have the opportunity to contribute what organizers describe as “the gift of life,” reinforcing the connection between service and remembrance.
The Calhoun County Courthouse, located at 25 West 11th Street in Anniston, will serve as the central location for the drive. Community members who are eligible to donate blood are encouraged to participate.
Organizers note that every donation has the potential to assist individuals in critical need, making the event both a tribute and a practical way to support others.
