ANNISTON, AL — A hands-on nature program designed to spark creativity and outdoor exploration is scheduled to take place at Anniston Museums and Gardens on Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The event, titled Building Fairy Houses in the Garden, will be led by Renee Simmons Raney, Chief of Education for Alabama State Parks and author of Hairy, Scary, but Mostly Merry Fairies. The program invites participants of all ages to engage in a creative, nature-based activity focused on building small-scale fairy habitats using natural materials.
According to event details, attendees will construct “leave in nature” fairy homes using items such as moss, bark, and stones. Organizers say the activity is intended to encourage curiosity about the natural world while highlighting how these elements contribute to the surrounding ecosystem.
The program also emphasizes disconnecting from technology and reconnecting with the outdoors. Participants will explore the forest floor and garden environment while learning about the role of natural materials in sustaining ecological balance.
The event is open to the public, with tickets priced at $10 per person. Members of Anniston Museums and Gardens are eligible for a discounted rate.
Organizers note that the program is designed to be inclusive, welcoming participants ranging from young children to older adults, with the goal of inspiring creativity and appreciation for nature.
