A Heartfelt Christmas at Redbird Willow Farm: Opening Doors to Those in Need in Calhoun County

Redbird Willow Farm

Calhoun County, AL – For many, the holiday season is a time for joy and togetherness, but for others, it can also be a period of loneliness and heartache. Michele Hornsby, the owner of Redbird Willow Farm, understands this all too well. Christmas is especially difficult for her, as it brings an overwhelming sense of loss and reminds her of her son Justin, who is deeply missed. Out of this personal pain and understanding, Michele has made the decision to open the doors of her farm on Christmas Day, offering a place of comfort and connection for anyone in need.

The farm will be open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and there will be no admission charge. Michele explained that while the event is primarily for individuals who may not have family or friends nearby to spend Christmas with, all are welcome. She emphasized, “We want everyone to know they are not alone. This day is about offering a space for peace and connection, especially for those who may be struggling during the holidays.” Volunteers from the community will be on hand to assist with everything from farm duties to serving food and offering support to guests. The spirit of giving is what will make the day special, as several local businesses and organizations have generously donated food and beverages.

Michele expressed her gratitude for the incredible support she’s received from the community, especially the sponsors who have contributed to making the event possible. Classic on Noble, Chick-fil-A, Chicken Salad Chick, Mad Hatter Cupcakes, Starbucks of Jacksonville, Daylight Donuts of Anniston, and The Midgley Family of New Orleans, LA have all generously donated food and drinks for the day. “We are truly blessed by the generosity of these businesses and families. Their kindness means the world to us and will make this event truly special for everyone who comes.”

Redbird Willow Farm offers more than just a physical place to visit; it’s a sanctuary where people can find a sense of belonging and warmth, especially during a time when many may feel isolated. Michele’s hope is that the day will serve as a reminder that even in the most difficult of times, there is still community, compassion, and love to be found.
