Montgomery, AL – Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has joined 23 other states in urging the U.S. Senate to swiftly confirm Kash Patel as the next Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). In a letter sent to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and incoming Majority Leader John Thune, the group of states advocated for Patel’s confirmation, citing his extensive experience and proven leadership.
Patel, a former National Security Advisor to the House Intelligence Committee, is praised for his efforts in uncovering abuses related to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and exposing politically motivated actions involving President Trump. He has also held key positions in the U.S. government, including Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense, where he was instrumental in military efforts against ISIS and in securing the release of American hostages.
Attorney General Marshall expressed confidence in Patel’s ability to restore integrity to the FBI, noting his history of standing against corruption and his commitment to protecting Americans. “I am convinced that Kash Patel will restore the people’s trust in the FBI,” Marshall said. “That type of patriot spirit is appreciated in Alabama and will be a breath of fresh air in Washington.”
The letter, led by Iowa, has garnered support from several states, including Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia. The coalition is calling for a swift confirmation process to bring Patel’s leadership to the FBI.
If confirmed, Patel’s appointment would mark a significant shift in leadership at the FBI, with advocates praising his track record of holding government agencies accountable and serving the American people.
