Anniston, AL – On September 27, 2024, Alabama Fire Marshal Scott Pilgreen executed an order to close four locations of Restoration Recovery Outreach & Company Inc., a rehabilitation facility that provides treatment for individuals battling drug addiction, including a program for registered sex offenders. The closures were mandated due to numerous fire code and safety violations identified by the Fire Marshal’s office.
In recent months, the facility had received multiple complaints from citizens regarding its living conditions. While the community acknowledges the importance of substantive treatment for those struggling with substance abuse, ensuring the safety of both residents and the surrounding community remains paramount.
Restoration Recovery housed 18 registered sex offenders across its four locations:
- Arrow Avenue, Anniston
- Highway 202, Anniston
- McClellan Boulevard, Anniston
- Mudd Street, Lincoln
In light of the closures, Sheriff Matthew Wade ordered deputies to visit each facility before the 5:00 PM deadline to verify that all offenders were present and complying with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). During these checks, several offenders were discovered to be out of compliance, leading to the acquisition of warrants for their arrest. Additional warrants may be pursued as the investigation continues.
