Governor Ivey Signs Landmark ‘Working for Alabama’ Legislative Package into Law

Montgomery, AL – Alabama’s Governor, Kay Ivey, has officially signed into law the comprehensive “Working for Alabama” legislative package, aimed at revitalizing the state’s workforce, bolstering economic development, and uplifting rural communities. The ambitious set of bills garnered bipartisan support and was celebrated as a pivotal step towards addressing critical challenges faced by the state.

Joined by a bipartisan ensemble of state leaders including Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth, Senate President Pro Tem Greg Reed, House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter, Senate Minority Leader Bobby Singleton, House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels, and BCA President Helena Duncan, Governor Ivey emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts in advancing Alabama’s interests.

The six-bill package, designed to streamline and enhance the efficiency of the state’s initiatives across various sectors, reflects a concerted commitment to elevating Alabama’s economic prospects and quality of life for its residents.

Governor Ivey expressed her optimism regarding the transformative potential of the legislative package, highlighting its alignment with previous endeavors such as broadband expansion, infrastructure improvements, and The Game Plan initiative. Emphasizing the need to address Alabama’s labor force participation rate, which ranks among the lowest nationally, Ivey reiterated the package’s focus on creating more opportunities for gainful employment.

Lieutenant Governor Ainsworth, who spearheaded the Lieutenant Governor’s Commission on 21st Century Workforce, underscored the importance of fostering a job-ready workforce to drive economic growth.
