MONTGOMERY, AL — The Alabama Power Foundation has announced four upcoming grant application cycles designed to support educators, classrooms, and student enrichment opportunities across the state. Applications will open in August and September.
Three of the cycles — the Champion, Scholar, and Field Trip grants — will run from Aug. 4 through Sept. 5, while the Classroom Grant cycle will open Sept. 15–26.
-
Champion Grants (up to $5,000) are available for public school teachers in grades 9–11. They provide funding for professional development, instructional resources, and classroom technology in math and science. Applications must demonstrate financial need, include a plan for collaboration, and outline measurable outcomes for student achievement.
-
Field Trip Grants (up to $2,500) are open to teachers in grades K–12. Funding supports trips that align with state curriculum standards and provide lasting educational benefits. Priority is given to Title I schools or schools with a high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price meals.
-
Scholar Grants (up to $5,000) are intended for public school teachers in grades 2–8. They focus on professional development, instructional tools, and classroom technology to improve achievement in math and English language arts. Applications should demonstrate financial need and collaboration among grade-level teams.
-
Classroom Grants (up to $1,000) are aimed at reducing the burden of out-of-pocket expenses for teachers. Funds can be used for classroom supplies, technology, or school library materials. Schools and nonprofit partners may apply if they meet financial need requirements, and proposals must specify how the grant will benefit students.
All applications will be reviewed by the Alabama Power Foundation for adherence to the program guidelines. More information and application forms are available at www.powerofgood.com.
