Montgomery, AL – Secretary of State Wes Allen is reminding Alabama voters that the deadline for submitting mail-in absentee ballot applications is swiftly approaching. In a recent statement, Secretary Allen emphasized the critical dates for absentee voting, urging residents to be mindful of the deadlines to ensure their voices are heard in the upcoming election.
County absentee election managers must receive mail-in absentee ballot applications by Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Those who prefer to submit their applications in person have until Thursday, February 29, 2024, to do so.
For those choosing to return absentee ballots in person, the county absentee election manager must receive them by the close of business on March 4, 2024— the day preceding the election scheduled for March 5, 2024. Meanwhile, absentee ballots sent by mail must reach the county absentee election manager no later than noon on Election Day.
Secretary Allen underscores the importance of voter identification, emphasizing that voters are required to present a valid form of photo identification when voting at their polling place or through an absentee ballot.
To facilitate the process and provide comprehensive information, Alabama residents are encouraged to visit the official website for details on absentee voting and to request an absentee ballot application.
