JACKSONVILLE, AL — The Alabama Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (ALAFCS) will host its Annual Conference at Jacksonville State University on April 16–17, 2026, bringing together educators, students, and professionals from across the state to explore advancements in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS).
The event will take place at Jacksonville State University’s College of Education and Professional Studies and is being hosted by the university’s Department of Career and Technical Education & Professional Studies. Activities will begin with a pre-conference session on April 16, followed by the full conference on April 17.
This year’s theme, “FCS is Life,” highlights the broad impact of Family and Consumer Sciences across everyday living, education, and workforce development. Organizers say the conference will feature a variety of sessions designed to provide both practical and innovative insights into the field.
Attendees can expect sessions covering topics such as fashion merchandising, child development, hospitality and culinary science, early childhood education, FCS education, and human sciences. The conference will include hands-on learning opportunities, guest speakers, and classroom-ready strategies aimed at enhancing both teaching and professional practice.
The annual gathering is intended to serve as both a professional development opportunity and a collaborative space for those involved in FCS-related disciplines. Organizers note that the event is designed to engage participants at all levels, from students preparing to enter the field to experienced educators and professionals.
Registration for the conference is currently open, and proposals for presentations are also being accepted through designated online submission forms.
