ALEXANDRIA — Pressley Slaton pitched a three-hitter and drove in three runs, and Alexandria downed Lincoln 12-0 in five innings to win the Class 5A, Area 10 softball title Thursday at home.

The Valley Cubs (25-18) move on to next week’s East Regional at Albertville. They will play Sardis on Thursday at 9 a.m. at Sand Mountain Park.

Alexandria’s regional appearance will be its 22nd in as many years. Lincoln also advances to regional.

Slaton struck out four batters and walked none. She went 1-for-3 at the plate.

Jill Cockrell and Charlee Parris had two hits apiece. Cockrell scored three runs, and Parris drove in two.

Christian Hess tripled, drove in two runs and scored two. Brenlee Sparks doubled and drove in a run. [read more sports stories…]
