Oxford, AL – The Oxford American Legion Post 111 will honor fallen veterans with a special flag placement ceremony at Oxford Memorial Gardens on Friday, May 17, 2025, in observance of Armed Forces Day.
The event will feature performances by the Saks High School Band, who will play the Armed Forces Medley, recognizing all branches of the U.S. military. A local Girl Scout troop will lead attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Special musical performances will be provided by vocalist Ms. Amy Moore, and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a solemn three-round volley salute to honor those who served.
“This ceremony allows our community to come together and recognize the sacrifice of our veterans,” said a representative from American Legion Post 111. “We invite everyone to join us in placing American flags on veterans’ graves as a symbol of our gratitude.”
Following the ceremony, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in placing flags on veterans’ gravesites throughout Oxford Memorial Gardens.
The event is open to the public, and community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and help honor local veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
