American Red Cross Hosts Annual Sound the Alarm Event in Anniston: Free Smoke Alarms to Save Lives

Sound the Alarm

Anniston, AL – The American Red Cross is inviting volunteers and community members to participate in the annual Sound the Alarm event, an initiative aimed at saving lives through the installation of free smoke alarms. This year’s target city is Anniston, and the event will take place on January 25th, as volunteers work to install smoke alarms in homes throughout the area.

Home fires claim seven lives every day, but studies show that having working smoke alarms in place can cut the risk of death by half. With this in mind, the American Red Cross is calling on volunteers to help install these vital alarms as part of its community disaster preparedness efforts.
