BIRMINGHAM, AL — AmFirst has launched its 2026 Feeding Families Across Alabama Food Drive, a month-long campaign aimed at helping address food insecurity across the state.
The food drive began Wednesday, July 1, and will continue through Friday, July 31, in partnership with ABC 33/40. All AmFirst branch locations are accepting nonperishable food donations as well as monetary contributions to benefit the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama.
According to AmFirst, more than 232,000 children, seniors, veterans, and other residents in central Alabama experience food insecurity. The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama provides assistance to more than 80,000 individuals each year who are at risk of hunger.
Community members are encouraged to donate nonperishable items such as canned goods, cereal, pasta, beans, rice, and peanut butter. Organizers ask that glass containers not be included in donations.
Monetary donations are also being accepted throughout the campaign. Checks should be made payable to the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama.
AmFirst reported that, through the generosity of its members and employees, the organization helped provide approximately 55,000 meals during its 2025 food drive.
The credit union encourages Alabama residents to participate in this year’s campaign to help replenish food pantry shelves and support families facing food insecurity.
