Birmingham, AL – AmFirst Credit Union announced that it provided 55,000 meals to Alabamians during July as part of the Feeding Families Across Alabama Food Drive. The initiative was conducted in partnership with the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama and Sinclair Broadcasting.
AmFirst collected nearly 18,000 pounds of food across all participating branches. In addition to the food donations, the credit union presented a $10,000 gift to the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, which helped fund 40,000 additional meals.
Bill Connor, President & CEO of AmFirst, expressed his appreciation for the community’s involvement in the drive. “We are thrilled by the outpouring of donations and participation in our food drive,” Connor said. “For the fifth year, this initiative has shown what can be achieved when a community comes together to support those in need. The contributions will significantly impact the lives of many families, ensuring they have access to nutritious food.”
Food insecurity remains a significant issue in the areas served by the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. According to the organization, one in five residents in the region struggles to afford food, with children being even more vulnerable—one in four faces food insecurity.

The food drive’s success highlights the community’s commitment to addressing food insecurity in Alabama and the ongoing need for such initiatives.
