Anniston and Calhoun County Close Non-Emergency Facilities Ahead of Winter Storm

Anniston, AL – In anticipation of a potential winter storm, the City of Anniston and Calhoun County have announced the closure of all non-emergency city and county facilities on Friday, January 10, 2025. This precautionary measure is intended to ensure the safety of citizens and employees amid forecasted hazardous weather conditions.

Anniston Closures and Emergency Operations

The City of Anniston stated that all non-emergency city facilities will be closed, while emergency services will continue operating uninterrupted. Residents requiring emergency assistance may contact the following:

Additionally, the public warming station, operated by the United Way of East Central Alabama, will remain open all day on both Friday and Saturday to support individuals in need. Calhoun County Offices

Calhoun County has also announced the closure of all county offices, including the Calhoun County Courthouse and the Ken Joiner Administration Building, on January 10, 2025. Regular operations will resume on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 8:00 AM.

County officials encourage the public to plan for the temporary closure and stay updated through Calhoun County EMA and local weather outlets.

In preparation for the winter weather, Alabama Power has activated its response teams to address potential outages. Residents are urged to use Alabama Power’s real-time outage map to report outages and monitor updates, available at Alabama Power Outage Map.
