Anniston and Oxford Prepare for Temporary Railroad Crossing Closures

Norfolk Southern Railroad - Crossing Maintenance

Anniston, AL – The City of Anniston has announced upcoming maintenance work by Norfolk Southern Railroad, which will temporarily affect several railroad crossings in the Anniston and Oxford areas. The maintenance is scheduled to begin on or around January 20, 2025, at Edwardsville Road and progress toward the Anniston/Oxford area.

Work Schedule

Application
  • The repair team will advance approximately one mile per day, addressing multiple crossings simultaneously.
  • Each crossing will be closed for 1-2 days, with reopening expected within 48 hours of closure.

Affected Crossings

The following railroad crossings will be impacted during the maintenance:

  • Anniston: Old Choccolocco Rd, Milligan St, Erikton Dr, Kelly Lynn Rd, Dearmanville Dr, F St, 4th St
  • Oxford: Chevron Rd, Coleman Rd, Hillyer Robinson Pkwy, Pace St, Moore St, Chestnut Rd

Travel Advisory

Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and anticipate minor delays in the affected areas. The city appreciates the public’s cooperation during this necessary maintenance work.
