For the past three years, I have worked and evaluated the needs of Ward 1 in Anniston. I am John Squires and you will find me on the City of Anniston ballot August 26. Please use your hard earned right to vote and cast it for me that day.
The last decade in our city`s history has been riddled with dishonor and resignation of the Ward 1 councilman which was littered with “smoke and mirror” resolutions, carelessness in the city’s administration of problems, and appointment of an individual that is the very definition of apathy and incompetency. This was done to maintain a smooth ride for the rest of council member`s term. Your present councilman for Ward 1 has not sent any ideas forward for progress in the council. If you look into his history, he has done the same thing in the groups he was a member. He goes with the flow without looking into the issue and votes yes to everything without asking the a very basic question….why?
Complacency and apathy should NEVER be tolerated from our representative. He is counting on you to just look at his name and vote with out considering that he has done nothing. Ward 1 , we are definitely smarter than this! I plan to bring issues to the table with solutions. I will ask questions of why and how does this help our ward and city. On August 26, let`s show him and the council that we want thinkers , not wall flowers. We want progress , not stagnation and idleness. I am going to spend my time working on making our ward, city, and our streets safer, more prosperous, and work on other financial avenues for progress not just rely on what the county, state, and federal government will do. August 26 is key to this movement. Your vote for me helps make this a reality.
Anniston has problems ranging from proper administration of trash and right of way pickup, a hospital with ill understood problems, a lackluster economic future with great talk and no show, and a lack of true leadership to ensure addressing issues that affect Ward 1.
My economic plan includes this beautiful area and if I am elected we start on this on day one. If you have questions and concerns this, please ask me, I will gladly show what I have been working on for the last few years to make this happen.This includes making it as easy as possible for economic development opposite US Highway 431 and AL Highway 21. What an opportunity alongside the beautiful vision of McClellan!
City Hall currently does not have strong leadership. This current council, for reasons unknown, has assigned the City Clerk the responsibilities of the City Manager. This is unacceptable. It has allowed quitters like our previous mayor and the aforementioned councilman in Ward 1, and then this incumbent Council chose your present councilman as Their, NOT YOURS Ward One representative. This injustice and affront still does not excuse the lack of progress done by this council for much too long.
The questions on everyone’s mind should be when going to vote on August 26 should be What has happened at city hall? Why was a person lacking in motivation , grit , and drive ,like the present Ward 1 councilman, chosen to cover what will likely be surprising findings as we look to the past, to get to the future? The current Ward 1 councilman`s few votes have been with the majority and he has yet to address the significant issues facing Ward 1, or for the City at large. There is no leadership representing your interests in your valued citizenship. I am running for this council seat to bring your thoughts and concerns to the council process. To work together and be transparent in actions. I will be bringing common sense solutions to the problems that seem to come back repeatedly.
You want change and a new direction? The current council and THEIR NOT YOUR appointee for Ward 1 will not get it done. Please vote for john Squires on August 26. Choose a new beginning Ward 1 . Let`s get to work.
