Anniston, AL – The City of Anniston celebrated a major milestone today with the grand opening of its newly restored City Hall at 1129 Noble Street in downtown Anniston. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of a $6 million restoration project, transforming the historic building into a modern government facility while preserving its rich architectural legacy. Originally built in 1906 as a federal courthouse and post office, the 34,000-square-foot building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After acquiring the property in August 2022, city officials committed to revitalizing the space to better serve the growing needs of the community.
The new City Hall is now home to multiple essential departments, including City Council Chambers, Finance & General Services, Human Resources, Parks & Recreation, Planning & Economic Development, Public Works & Civil Service, and the Building & Safety Division. City officials emphasized that the goal of the restoration was to create a functional, welcoming space where residents can easily access vital municipal services.
Residents are encouraged to visit the new facility, which is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM CT. The building is located at 1129 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201, and city officials can be reached by phone at 256-236-3422 or via email at citymanager@annistonal.gov.
