Anniston, AL – Lt. Tim Suits with the Anniston Police Department Invisgative Unit shared a press release that on January 18, 2023, Anniston Police Department Officers were called to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in reference to a child abuse case. Upon arrival Officers found hospital personnel were treating an unconscious 6-year-old victim. The victim was later transported to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.
The victim’s father, Joshua D. Clark, age 29, was on scene at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. Clark was transported to the Anniston Police Department. After speaking with Anniston Police Department Investigators, the suspect was placed under arrest for Aggravated Child Abuse.
On January 20, 2023, we were notified that the 6-year-old victim did not survive the injuries and died at Children’s Hospital.
As mentioned Clark was initially arrested for Aggravated Child Abuse. Due to the victim’s death, the charges against Clark were upgraded to Capital Murder. Clark is currently in the Calhoun County Jail. Due to the new Aniah’s Law, there is no bond set for Clark.
