Anniston, AL – The Anniston Fatherhood Initiative (AFI) will host its annual banquet on Friday, December 13, at 6 p.m. at the South Highland Community Center. The event aims to celebrate the progress of the program and bring together community members dedicated to supporting positive role models within families.
The banquet will feature a couple of guest speakers and offers a casual dress code. Tickets are priced at $15 for individuals or $20 for couples, and children are welcome to attend for free. Tickets can be purchased from any AFI board member, Program Director Donnie Thornton at 256-848-3561 or [email protected], or at the door.
The AFI, a 501(c)(3) organization, was created as part of a national program by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to encourage fathers in public housing programs to be active and positive influences in their children’s lives. In recent years, the program has expanded to include mothers as well. Throughout the year, AFI hosts a variety of activities aimed at strengthening family bonds and community engagement, including field trips, reading programs, mentoring, and financial management education.
The AFI continues to seek to expand its reach, recruit more mentors and volunteers, and encourage more families to participate. For additional information about the program or how to get involved, contact Program Director Donnie Thornton at 256-848-3561 or via email at [email protected]. The annual banquet is a great opportunity to learn more about the impact of the AFI and contribute to its mission.
